MANILA, Sept. 21 (PIA)--The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) released a new commemorative stamp featuring the Philippine National Costume as contribution to the central theme of this year's ASEANPost Commemorative stamps depicting each country's national dress, which is the source of a citizen's identity, nationalism and power.
The stamp features a man and a woman wearing the national costume of the Philippines, the "Barong Tagalog" and the "Baro't Saya." The inspiration of this project is the luxurious lines of fashion illustration and the warm romantic ambiance of our "Kundiman" songs.
PHLPost has printed some 20,000 copies of the stamp sold at Php12.00 each.
Meanwhile, each year, representatives from every ASEAN Postal Administration meet to share experiences and ideas to transform and integrate Posts in the ASEAN region to further build and strengthen the excellent relationships among members.
Likewise, member states postal administrations of Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines, are encouraged to issue similar stamps with the ASEAN Post logo displayed on each country's commemorative stamps to symbolize peace, friendship and solidarity in the ASEAN community.
The stamps and official first day cover of "ASEAN Stamps 2019 featuring National Costume" are now available at the Philatelic Counter of Manila Central Post Office, all Mega Manila Post Offices, and in other Postal Areas of: Area 4 (San Pablo), Area 7 (Davao), and Area 8 (Cagayan De Oro). (PIA-NCR)
