DHAKA, Bangladesh - Students of Northern University blocked a busy Dhaka road to protest the death of their fellow student in a road crash.
The angry students blocked the capital's Kawla road on Monday for several hours, demanding a fair trial for the incident. The authorities calmed down the protestors assuring justice and cleared the road.
The 24-year-old Nadia Akhter, a first-year student of the university's pharmacy department, was killed after being hit by a bus in the capital's Baridhara area on Sunday.
The incident occurred around noon Sunday, near the Jamuna Future Park shopping mall.
The bus driver and his assistant were arrested after the bus hit and killed Nadia.
