PARIS, France: European plane manufacturer Airbus is reported to be close to a record agreement to sell 500 narrow-body jets from the A320-family to Indigo, the largest carrier in India.
On the sidelines of an airline industry meeting in Istanbul, Airbus is reported to be the front-runner for the order, which surpasses the historic provisional purchase of 470 jets by Air India in February.
Airbus and Boeing are also competing to sell 25 wide-body jets to IndiGo, which is already a major Airbus customer, with many planes on order.
Both Airbus and Boeing have not responded to requests for comment.
