New Delhi [India], July 17 (ANI): BJP MP Manan Kumar Mishra on Wednesday echoed support to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's remarks on terrorism in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meet, asserting that India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has cleared its stance of 'Zero tolerance'.
Speaking to ANI, Mishra said, 'Under the leadership of PM Modi, we have cleared our stance on 'Zero tolerance'... This has been cleared by the External Affairs Minister as well. Along with China, all the SCO members must agree to it. Pakistan also understands India won't spare this time...'
His remarks came after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday stressed the importance of taking an uncompromising stance against terrorism, citing the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack in India, which was condemned by the UN Security Council.
The Minister was speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Tianjin.
BJP's Mishra also targeted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks, terming them 'disappointing'.
'Rahul Gandhi's statements are disappointing... He holds a responsible post and should think a hundred times before making such statements and analyse whether his words are in favour or against the nation...'
Rahul Gandhi, who is the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, had slammed Jaishankar over his remarks during a visit to China to attend a meeting of the SCO Foreign Ministers.
'I guess the Chinese foreign minister will come and apprise Modi about recent developments in China-India ties. The EAM is now running a full blown circus aimed at destroying India's foreign policy,' Rahul Gandhi had said in a post on X, attaching a news about Jaishankar meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping.
